Brief Biography of Francesc Cuixart i Barjau

Born in Berga in 1875, Francesc Cuixart i Barjau was a Catalan painter who combined academicism with modernism. He studied at the Escola de Llotja in Barcelona under the tutelage of Claudi Lorenzale. He later moved to Manresa, where he pursued his professional career and worked as a teacher at the Escola d'Arts i Oficis. His work ranges from still lifes to historical genre paintings, highlighting his contribution to Catalan modernism. His most notable works include the creation of the Senyera (Spanish flag) of the Orfeó Manresà (Spanish National Orchestra) and the signs for the Tuneu tailor shop in Manresa.
