This set of handwoven cotton placemats reveals the texture of the fiber and features small variations in weave, tension, and tone. Hand-stitched crosses add a discreet signature, while the rectangular format delineates each place setting without creating a rigid composition. The color is integrated into the weave itself, adding depth to the table.

The placemats protect the surface and allow wood, stone, or a lacquered finish to remain part of the ensemble. They work especially well with ceramics, glass, and cutlery with various finishes, and can be used alone or mixed with other colors. Lorena Canals' handmade craftsmanship ensures that no two pieces are exactly alike. With use and delicate washing, the cotton gains a softer drape and an even more homely appearance.
