This La Borne stoneware table lamp has the brutalist aesthetic of 1970s French studio pottery: the ceramic stoneware base, partially vitrified in mottled earth tones and ochres, has a tactile texture and a sculptural presence that industrialized stoneware cannot reproduce. The original, handmade textile lampshade completes the piece. Includes cable and socket. In very good condition with signs of use consistent with its careful preservation over the years. Bulb not included. Unique piece.
About Bruno H. Hardy
Bruno H. Hardy was a student of Jean and Jacqueline Lerat in La Borne, the pottery village in Cher (France) which, from the 1960s onwards, became one of the most important centers of European studio pottery. The pieces attributed to Hardy have the formal rigor of the Lerats' work with a personal interpretation of ceramic brutalism that makes them particularly interesting for collectors of French artisanal design.
Why we chose this lamp
Because La Borne stoneware attributed to Bruno H. Hardy is exactly the kind of piece Matuta Home seeks for its vintage section: a lamp that is at once a functional object, a work of studio pottery, and a collector's piece with history and traceability. The earthy tones of the stoneware and the handmade lampshade create a warmth that current production pieces cannot match.
