This handmade oval rope and leather mirror is inspired by the equestrian collars that characterize 1970s French decorative craftsmanship: the hand-braided rope and brown leather details create an organic and warm texture with a visual depth difficult to find in currently produced mirrors. Measuring 53 cm high and 25 cm wide, it is a wall piece for a hallway, bedroom, or bathroom where a decorative statement with character is desired. Good condition with natural patina consistent with its age.
About Audoux and Minet
Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet were a pair of French designers active mainly between the 1940s and 1970s. Pioneers of interior design with natural materials, they developed their own language based on sisal rope, leather, and rattan crafted with artisanal techniques. Their lamps, mirrors, and furniture were recognized by French design critics as designer pieces with sculptural character, and today they are collected internationally as representatives of the most honest and poetic French post-war decorative design.
Why we chose this mirror
Because the combination of braided rope and brown leather has the warmth of natural materials with the artistic gesture of 1970s French decorative design: a small piece but with enough presence to completely change the tone of any wall where it is placed.
