This beige wool rug with a fringed border uses its perimeter as an essential part of the design. In Soft Outline, a pale centre and a darker band are distinguished by colour and texture, recalling the borders that frame Japanese tatami mats. The handwoven surface has a tactile presence that becomes particularly apparent beside smoother materials such as stone or a wooden floor.

Why we chose this rug

We chose it because it frames a seating area without introducing a central motif. It works especially well with a linen sofa and oak furniture, leaving the fringes on view. The border gives the composition definition, while the quieter central field leaves visual room for a low table and the objects used in everyday life.
