Description
This washed cotton table runner has a soft texture and a slightly lived-in appearance from the first use. The stone washing creates tonal variations unique to each piece, while the frayed edges and hand-embroidered detail reinforce a relaxed character. The surface does not aim for perfect uniformity, but rather a natural and homely drape.
It can be placed in the center of a bare table, over a plain tablecloth, or across a round table to create a less conventional composition. It also works well on a console or sideboard as a base for ceramics, glass, or found objects. It pairs with wood, stone, and dinnerware of various finishes. As with other Lorena Canals textiles, differences in tone and finish are part of the artisanal process and make each unit slightly different.
Why we chose this table runner
We chose it because it dresses up the table without over-formalizing it and allows for changing the composition with a simple gesture. We like the relationship between the cotton's texture, the irregular edge, and the small embroidery. It's a flexible and easy-to-combine textile, capable of adding color and texture while allowing the dinnerware and the tabletop to retain their prominence.
